Spindle nose thread protector for south bend 9 10 lathe
One spindle nose cap, thread protector manufactured from high carbon tool steel. Will fit South Bend 9" and 10" lathes and others with 1.5 diameter X 8 TPI (threads per inch) spindle nose. 2.31" Outside diameter X .90" long, drilled for a 9/32 " spanner wrench. These are usually referred to as a spindle nose protector but the threaded ones like this have another purpose. In South Bend's parts list, this nut is referred to as a "knock-out nut". So if you are using the 3-C collet sleeve you can use this tool to eject the sleeve instead of knocking the sleeve out. Just unscrew the nut and it will eject the collet sleeve. This will save damage done to the collet sleeve.
1 1/2" X 8 Class 2B threads and OD is Knurled for a sure grip.
This is a must have item if your are using 3-C collets and collet sleeve.
