High alloy material (Chrome, Molybdenum, Manganese) hardened to 60RC assures rigidity and long life of tool holder. The taper shank is ground to .00003" surface finish and has 90% surface taper contact with spindle, which provides high accuracy, rigidity and longer life for the machine spindle and tap. All surfaces except ground surfaces are coated with anti-rust treatment. Compact design is suitable for automatic tool changers in most machining centers.
The Auto Tapper Type A is equipped with a chatter free clutch design which provides smoother, more accurate tapping. The tapping depth can be controlled to within .004". Operation time is reduced by 5 seconds with a high speed reversing mechanism. Reversing mechanism prolongs machine life by avoiding shock during reversing cycle. Tap float (tension and compression) is provided through the use of steel balls to prevent breakage of small taps. Easy installation on all machining centers with the use of a stop block with coolant feed through (similar to a coolant inducer).
This unit accepts Bilz #2 Style Tap Collets.
