HEAVY DUTY White Model 1409 Free Arm Sewing Machine, serial number: 30877821J. White 1400 series: Low Shank, Oscillating Hook, Class 15 Bobbin, 15 x 1 Needle. Very nice sewing machine, one owner unit always well cared for. Machine shows very well with less than average wear and tear for a machine this age. Very heavy machine, solid steel casing and internal drive shafts. Unlike today's all plastic machines, this baby was built to last. Runs smoothly and penetrates dense material with ease. Machine has been cleaned and oiled and has had the timing checked and is perfect. 6 - 20 stitches per inch, with Reverse and ZigZag. Working light. Twin thread sewing capable when used with twin tipped needles available anywhere. Slender free arm for sewing hard to get at areas and tight turns. Built in carry handle. Here is a sample of some Upholstery Cording I did on this machine. One hour on this machine and you will be doing these like a Pro too. It's fairly easy. First, you take a small strip of your Material and wrap it around a stretch of cording rope, and sew it tight with the included Special Zipper/Cording foot. Then, blanket that in two more layers of your Material and sew it tight against the Cord once more. Then trim your excess, and you should have a nicely corded piece. With this machine and the included attachments, you will be able to do your own Upholstery work like a Pro with just a few hours of practice.
