Torch Wear® products are manufactured to the highest standards, tested and certified to meet, and exceed, safety industry standards. Independent testing has proven that Torch Wear® products outperform old technologies against flame, heat, arc flash, sparks, and even molten splash. In Limited Oxygen Index (LOI) testing, Torch Wear® rated the highest, having an LOI rating of 55. That is 50% higher than Nomex, and 33% higher than PBI/FR/Rayon blends. Simply stated, there is nothing on the market like Torch Wear®, not even close.
Torch Wear® with CarbonX fiber
Torch Wear® welding aprons are manufactured with CarbonX fibers to achieve maximum protection, while being lightweight, and comfortable. CarbonX,when exposed to intense heat or flame, will carbonize and expand, dramatically reducing the oxygen content within the fabric. Unlike many of the fabrics currently used, Torch Wear® will not char, shrink, or burn when exposed to heat or flame. The fabric is not chemically treated. It is a yarn created by spinning Oxidized Polyacrylonitrile (O-PAN) with an Aramid strengthening agent. This formula results in a product with amazing heat and fire resistance.
