SCENEdots is a patent pending reflective system designed for the rear of emergency vehicles that are
constructed of diamond tread plate. SCENEdots is a very simple solution for a huge problem, and that
is, how do you make the rear of a vehcile more visible with reflective striping when the vehicle is
constructed of diamond tread plate?
With SCENEdots you can create any striping configuration that you desire in five different colors,
red, white, blue, yellow and orange, yes even numbers and letters. It so simple that you can do it
yourself. Once you have decided on a configuration, simply peel and stick the self-adhesive dots
onto the smooth surface area between each diamond on the tread plate. By installing one dot at
a time, you can create any striping configuration you desire. This simple system requires no
measuring, cutting or using a straight edge for alignment. The tread plate acts as a template
no matter what configuration you want to create.
We use only 3M reflective material which has been used for many years for striping and lettering
vehicles, so the reflectability and durability has already been proven. We just gave it a bit of a
twist to make it work on the most troubled surface and that is treadplate on the rear of a fire
truck of which is the most dangerous area of any emergency apparatus.
In a few shorts hours, you can convert your apparatus from being a target on the highway to a highly
visible safety barricade. When your apparatus is more visible, it is much safer. With very little
investment you can make your apparatus more visible not only while responding to a call, but also
while on the scene and simply returning back to the fire station.
The SCENEdots are sold by the sheet consisting of 56 dots. When these dots are applied to the
treadplate, it creates a reflective stripe 4 inches wide x 12 inches long. All you have to do is to
determine the number of sheets required and the desired color or colors. To help you on
determing the number of sheets needed, cut a piece of cardboard measuring 4 inches wide x
12" long which represents one sheet of the SCENEdots. Another quick guide is to determine the
number of square feet and take that number x 2.5 (2.5 sheets will cover 1 sq.ft.). Divide this number
by 2 if you are using two colors. By using this as a template or guide, you can determine the
number of sheets of each color needed.
