This item is an Intel Pentium Microprocessor (Intel part # BP80503166). This is a 2.8V CPU packaged in the 296 pin Pin Grid Array (Ceramic Quad Flat Pack). It appears to have been an Intel box CPU (an upgrade CPU), since it comes with an attached cooling fan with an Intel laser hologram thereon.

These Intel CPU's may become collectors items in a few years - like old coins. They have a beauty to them (though "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder."). They make interesting knickknacks and bric-a-brac, since many people have had much experience using them (at work and at home).
A "proof set" of Intel's illustrious line of pioneering microprocessors is now almost available here in my store. There is a 286-12 and a 386-16 available plus a Pentium 100, 133, and 200MMX. Get them while they are still available.
